Rowley Shoals Marine Park

A haven for unspoilt coral gardens, giant clams, lumbering potato cods and other abundant marine life.

The Rowley Shoals lay 300 kilometers off Broome and made up of three distinct coral atolls, Clerke Reef, Imperieuse Reef and Mermaid Reef.

A dedicated marine park, they host some of the most spectacular coral reefs in the world. In addition to a rich diversity of corals, fish, molluscs and other invertebrates, the shoals are home to at least 13 species of larger marine animals such as sea turtles, mantarays, whales and dolphins. The deep water drop off adjacent to the shoals boasts pelagic species such as sharks, marlin and sailfin.

Carefully managed by the Department of Conservation and Land Management, the spectacular seascape combining islands, lagoons, steep drop offs and oceanic waters; combined with a sense of wilderness attract an increasing number of visitors each year.

Most visitors arrive on commercial charter boats departing from Broome and enjoy diving, snorkelling, game fishing, boating and island based activities such as beach combing.
