Dampier Peninsula - five days
Day one
Head north of Broome, following the unsealed Cape Leveque Road to Goombaragin Eco Ventures (two and a half hours’ drive) for your first night’s accommodation. These eco-style tents are located high on a cliff top, with panoramic ocean views.
Take a tour with an Indigenous guide to learn about the local culture, heritage, lifestyle and their relationship with the land and sea. Enjoy strolling along secluded beaches, swim or go snorkelling in the sparkling waters.
Day two
Follow the Cape Leveque Road heading North to Kooljaman at Cape Leveque. Along the way, call in to the Sacred Heart Church at Beagle Bay Aboriginal Community with its amazing pearl shell altar. At low tide near Mudunn, you can search for mud crabs in the mangroves with local guide Vincent Angus. Cook and sample what you catch before heading off to the multi-award winning wilderness camp, Kooljaman at Cape Leveque, for your next two nights’ accommodation. Choices range from camping in traditional palm frond shelters on the beach to safari style tents.
Day three
Take a scenic flight over the Buccaneer Archipelago or a cultural and scenic day trip to Sunday Island. After lunch, join a Swan Point Tag-along tour to visit exclusive bays and beaches and traverse a rich diversity of land and seascapes. Enjoy shore fishing in secret spots, swim, snorkel and learn the history of this spectacular area.
Day four
Head south to Lombadina for your last night on the Dampier Peninsula. Choose from boat charters, scenic tours, kayaking, mud crabbing, four-wheel drive tours, shore fishing, whale watching, bush walks or bird watching, not forgetting to visit the craft shop and enjoy fresh bread from the bakery.
Day five
Before heading south back to Broome, spend the morning discovering the spectacular coastline and stunning beaches. Swim, snorkel or just simply relax.
