In 2006 a handful of dare devil Sydney swimmers chose Lake Argyle to test their talents and raise money for the Royal Flying Doctors Service. The success of this fundraising adventure prompted a unanimous decision from the Ord Valley Muster Committee running under the Kununurra Chamber of Commerce and Industry to add the Lake Argyle Classic to the 2007 Argyle Diamonds Ord Valley Muster event calendar.
