Description: Named in the early days before the discovery that there were no alligators in Australia.
Swimming was once considered safe when the hole had a small population of freshwater crocodiles but the dangerous saltwater crocodile has started to appear in the water and swimming is no longer recommended.

Description: In the late 1880s, at the beginning of the great Kimberley beef industry, Patsy Durack and his two brothers built the Argyle Downs Homestead after a two year trek from Queensland bringing with them wagons, carts and 2000 head of cattle.

Description: Bandicoot Bar is a good fishing and picnic spot on the Ord River just below the Diverson Dam wall.

Description: Beagle Bay is one of three Aboriginal communities on the Dampier Peninsula north of Broome, and an interesting part of Western Australian history.
If you’re four wheel driving along the track to Cape Leveque it’s well worth a stop to see the Beagle Bay Sacred Heart Church with its mother of pearl shell altar.

This is where the locals come to go swimming and enjoy a picnic.
