Who would have thought a tourism campaign could be born out of Shane Jacobson losing his shoes at a wrap party?!
Yes, he really did lose his shoes after finishing filming on our first #BroomeTime campaign and you can watch it all unfold here.

Thought bubbles in the ANW office … lost shoes? Walking in Shane’s footsteps? Perhaps the tide takes them up to the Dampier Peninsula and beyond? Perhaps our local tourism operators could join us in the campaign by helping to spot Shane’s shoes? All these considerations started the creativity flowing about how we could create a storyline for Shane’s next adventure in our new #BroomeTime campaign.

The objective of most destination marketing campaigns is to increase the numbers of people who visit your region, including this one! Encouraging visitors to stay longer in Broome by exploring the Dampier Peninsula and experiencing Aboriginal product were all key motivators for the ‘Broome Time 2: The Great Shoe Search’ campaign with Shane.

The script needed to incorporate Shane’s comedic skills, and we wanted to showcase Aboriginal culture and humour within the episodes as well as presenting the vast, epic landscapes around the Dampier Peninsula and Buccaneer Archipelago.

Filming with Shane is always a laugh-a-minute and it was no different the second time around. Nothing was ever a problem - no diva antics with this fella! This time we ventured further north and travelled to the Horizontal Falls to film, then to Cygnet Bay and Kooljaman at Cape Leveque on the Dampier Peninsula. We got bogged, ate pizza, tried to throw spears, nearly ran out of petrol, laughed a LOT and had the funniest-ever road trip back to Broome belting out hits from the ‘80s while driving through pindan dust and sea fog with dodgy headlights!
