Nestled along a pristine stretch of Kimberley coastline 130 kilometres south of Broome, Eco Beach Resort offers the perfect setting to switch off and settle into a slower pace of life. With ocean-view villas, wellness experiences and unforgettable sunsets, it's a destination that feels wonderfully removed from the everyday.
Our weekend began before we even arrived.
Eco Beach's doorstep-to-doorstep transfer service from Broome made getting there incredibly easy. Greeted by our driver Jen with a smile and a jar of lolly snakes for the road, we settled in for the journey south. Along the way, wallabies bounded across the road, providing our first reminder that we were firmly in Kimberley country.
By the time we arrived at the resort, I already felt like I had left the everyday behind.
We were welcomed by smiling faces and given an overview of the many experiences available throughout our stay. From kayaking adventures and cave walks to spa treatments, yoga sessions and private dining experiences, it was clear that our weekend could be whatever we needed it to be.
Our Ocean View Villa quickly became a home away from home. Complete with a kitchenette and all the home comforts you could need, it offered the perfect base between adventures.
One of the highlights of our stay was the complimentary morning yoga session led by Aralenna. Now, I'll be the first to admit that I'm not typically a yoga-goer, but Aralenna immediately made everyone feel welcome. The session combined gentle movement, mindfulness and a sound healing component that felt accessible to all abilities and experience levels.
Afterwards, we wandered back along the boardwalk to our villa, coffee in hand, before settling onto the deck to watch fellow guests casting lines from the shoreline below. The salty morning air, gentle sea breeze and slower pace of life made it the perfect way to start the day.
Of course, there was also plenty of time for doing absolutely nothing...
Some of my favourite moments were spent simply swinging in a hammock beneath a beachside cabana, listening to the steady rhythm of waves meeting the shore. Between chapters of a good book and the occasional nap, I truly felt as though I had been whisked away to a tranquil paradise.
The infinity pool quickly became one of my go-to spots to plonk myself. With sweeping views across the Indian Ocean, it was impossible not to lose track of time while soaking up the scenery. The experience was made even better when cocktails arrived poolside, delivered straight to our loungers as we relaxed beneath the warm Kimberley sun.
When hunger called, Jack's provided the perfect setting (a stone's throw from the pool) for a long, leisurely lunch. With a relaxed atmosphere and a menu showcasing fresh local flavours, it was easy to linger a little longer over lunch.
For those looking to explore, the resort offers countless opportunities to experience the surrounding Kimberley landscape. Guests can kayak or paddleboard along the coastline on guided or self-guided adventures, cast a line from the beach, or discover nearby caves and coastal formations shaped by time and tide.
We spent time exploring the caves ourselves, watching the changing light dance across the rock formations and reflect off the water below. There are also walking trails and bush walks waiting to be explored — something we'll have to return for, as one weekend wasn't long enough to experience it all.
One of the most unique experiences on offer was the Mud & Bubbles treatment.
After learning about the benefits of the nutrient-rich Kimberley mud, we exfoliated our skin before generously applying the mud from head to toe. As we relaxed and let nature work its magic, our beautician shared insights into the treatment's benefits while pouring glasses of bubbles for us to enjoy. It felt indulgent, a little bit silly and unlike anything I'd experienced before.
During our stay, we also treated ourselves to a visit to Dragonfly Day Spa.
Beautiful aromas filled the space, creating an immediate sense of calm before our treatments had even begun. We chose hot stone massages and spent the next hour in a semi-comatose state as warm stones and skilled hands worked away every trace of tension. It was the perfect complement to a weekend focused on rest and rejuvenation.
As afternoon drifted towards evening, we found ourselves drawn to the resort's daily Happy Hour. Plopped on a beanbag, Aperols in hand, we watched the landscape transform as the sun dipped lower towards the horizon. In a place as spectacular and unspoilt as this, sunset feels like an event in itself.
One evening, we ventured beyond the resort for the private Sunset Sundowner experience. Travelling by buggy to a secluded coastal location, we were treated to a beautiful cheeseboard and bubbles in a setting that felt completely removed from the world around us. With nobody else around, it felt as though we'd stumbled upon our own private corner of the Kimberley.
If that wasn't memorable enough, our private dining experience somehow managed to raise the bar even further.
Set beneath twinkling fairy lights, we enjoyed an indulgent three-course meal while the final colours of sunset lingered overhead. As darkness settled and the stars emerged above us, safe to say its an evening we'll be talking about for a while.
After much indulgence, evenings ended in the simplest of ways. Wrapped in blankets with a glass of wine in hand, we settled into the outdoor bar area for a game of cards while listening to the distant sound of waves rolling onto the shore.
As we reluctantly packed our bags and boarded the transfer back to Broome, I couldn't help but feel like the weekend had flown by. Then again, that's probably what happens when your biggest decision of the day is whether to head to the hammock, the pool or Happy Hour. Given the chance, I could have very easily whiled away another week by the infinity pool — and I certainly wouldn't have complained about it.
