The Parks and Wildlife Service operate a campground with basic facilities within the grounds of the Mitchell River National Park. The campground is situated near Mertens Creek at the beginning of the track to Punamii/Mitchell Falls.
The campground is open for the dry season (May to October).
Campers must be self-sufficient for the duration of their stay. The campground has generator and non-generator areas, and some camp sites have their own fire ring. Firewood must be collected before entering the park. Preferably use your own portable gas or fuel stove.
The campground has toilet facilities but no showers. Visitors may use the creek for swimming and bathing, however soaps and detergents are not permitted in the creeks and rivers. Water taps are provided, and it is recommended that water is boiled or otherwise treated before drinking.
A helicopter booking office and landing pad is located next to the campsite, providing helicopter trips to the Mitchell Falls and back with Helispirit.
