Port Hedland offers both land-based and offshore fishing, with a wide variety of fish such as bream, whiting, mullet, kingfish and skippy to be caught. During summer barramundi can be found close to Port Hedland and threadfin and blue salmon can be caught year round.
Some popular fishing spots include Port Hedland public jetty (adjacent to Marapikurrinya Park), Cooke Point, and the Spoil Bank which is accessed via an unsealed road off Sutherland Drive. Boat launches are located at Richardson St near the town centre and on Finucane Island. Further out of town, Cape Keraudren is also a popular spot to launch boats.
Out of town you’ll also find fishing opportunities at Four Mile and Six Mile Creeks.
