Shoal Air commenced air charter operations from Kununurra in 2004 with a fleet of just two aircraft and two pilots. It’s founder, Steve Irvine, then had more than 20 years of Kimberley aviation experience in his role as a remote area construction project manager and architect.
Steve had a vision of providing an air service with an absolute and unambiguous commitment to remote settlements in the Kimberley, and the agencies and suppliers that support and service them. With Service, Safety and Sustainability as cornerstone principles, Shoal Air very easily became the preferred operator in the East Kimberley.
In 2015 Shoal Air is a mature and well established airline, with a dedicated team of highly competent aviation professionals and a fleet of 22 aircraft operating across the Kimberley. The company now employs 20+ pilots, 4 administration and bookings staff and 6 licensed aircraft maintenance engineers, all chosen for their skills and enthusiasm for what we do and how we do it.
Shoal Air is the East Kimberley’s home grown airline and is one of the leading corporate citizens of our region, contributing widely to social, environmental and entrepreneurial initiatives.
