Imagine living in a place where crocodiles outnumber humans; where the sea is your front yard (an inland sea, that is); where flocks of birds can number into the tens of thousands; and where each day’s sunset has the potential to be the best you’ve ever seen.
When Greg began operating in 1999, he knew he’d never tire of showing this incredible part of the world to others. Two decades (and thousands of guests later) Lake Argyle Cruises remains the number one choice for exploring this magnificent part of the Kimberley.
Whether you’re spotting for wildlife during one of our cruises, hiring a dinghy and throwing in a line, drifting across the water on a stand-up paddle board, or soaking in the magic of an East Kimberley sunset, you’ll experience the heart and soul of Lake Argyle with us, Lake Argyle Cruises!
Lake Argyle Cruises office is located 200 metres past the caravan park. Look for the canoes out the front!!
When waterfall season hits, talk to Lake Argyle Cruises for some amazing ways to experience this special time of the year on the lake, including lake transfers for hikers to places like Revolver Falls, sunset cruises, private charters and exploring by dinghy, canoe, kayak or on your own BBQ pontoon.
Do you go cuckoo for birds? Then you’ll love our full day bird-watching expedition of Lake Argyle, a designated RAMSAR Wetland due to the large number and variety of birdlife found here. Over 240 species of birds have been recorded on or around the lake including Yellow Chat, Purple Crowned Fairy Wren and the Long Toed Stint. At times, individual flocks of certain species can number in the tens of thousands.
Lake Argyle has also gained a reputation as one of the best locations in Australia to observe certain species that are often difficult to find elsewhere. A number of well-known birdwatchers regularly bring their clients to us, knowing that our experience and ability to find sought-after species is second to none.
On previous trips, guests have been pleasantly surprised at sighting up to 113 bird species in one day! Lake Argyle Cruises’ owner, Greg, is a keen birdwatcher and he especially enjoys leading these trips. Please book in advance to arrange a departure to suit your itinerary.

As the old saying goes, “red sky at night, sailors’ delight” and there’s no better way to experience a breathtaking Lake Argyle sunset than out on the water! On our popular sunset magic cruise, we’ll explore the rugged northern end of Lake Argyle while navigating through some of the lake’s 90 islands and inlets. Our Skipper will entertain and inform with commentary on the natural history and development of Lake Argyle, The Ord River Irrigation System and the Aquaculture Industry.
You’ll encounter Rock Wallabies, Crocodiles, Wallaroos (Euros) and the diverse array of birdlife that call Lake Argyle home. You’ll be delighted and awed by the Archer Fish that shoot water up at your hand with amazing precision. You’ll watch a Catfish feeding frenzy (also known by the fancier term of ‘Silver Cobbler’) and perhaps you’ll even be enticed to come back out on one of our fishing trips. As the sun sinks behind the glorious Carr Boyd Ranges, you’ll enjoy a complimentary drink and a light snack to make the most of this magic time of day.
With rugged red cliffs reflecting into the blue water, Lake Argyle is the ultimate place to catch the last golden rays of the Kimberley sun.

a must-do for anyone wanting to experience the heart and soul of our beautiful lake!
The bird is the word in the lake’s Southern wetlands, being home to a myriad of birdlife that sometimes numbers into the tens of thousands! Take a gander through the binoculars (provided by us, but your welcome to bring your own) for an up-close look at the many different species of birds and other wildlife including wallabies and crocodiles.
We’ll stop on a remote island to fossick for the intriguing Zebra Rock. Unique to Lake Argyle, this rock is alluring with its perfect stripes and spots that can appear to be painted on. We’ll cruise past the submerged site of ‘Argyle Downs’, the Durack Family’s Homestead, while listening to stories about the pioneering families and how they began the pastoral industry in the Eastern Kimberley.
We’ll enjoy the changing colours reflecting across the lake near Monsmont Island, the best spot on
the Lake for sunset! Enjoy some delicious local Ord River produce for afternoon tea before stopping for a refreshing swim (don’t forget your bathers!) and complimentary beer, wine or champagne – the perfect end to a magnificent day on Lake Argyle.
