Flickerfest began as a small local festival at Balmain High School in 1991. Over the last 27 years, it has grown to become Australia's only Academy© accredited and BAFTA recognised competitive International Short Film Festival with entries coming from filmmakers across the globe.
Flickerfest will present films at 50 venues Australia wide and Kununurra Picture Gardens is proud to have been part of this festival for the past 7 years.
The Kununurra Picture Gardens (KPG), is a unique Kimberley experience - an outdoor cinema where you can pull up in your ute with a bean bag/swag/couch (we've seen them all) and watch a movie under the stars, whilst your mates are in the next row in their deck chairs on the amazing new lawn! You never quite know what will happen when you come along to the cinema.
The KPG is also unique in the fact it is owned and fully operated by volunteers. From the person selling you tickets at the gate or popcorn in the kiosk, to our dedicated committee - everyone does it for the love of the movies and the joy of sharing this picturesque location with the world.
This year there will be two different programs of films being screened on 19 & 24 May at 6 pm, so consider coming along to both evenings. Bring a blanket as it can get quite chilly after 7 pm.
Tickets available at the Kununurra Visitors Centre - (08) 9168 1177 and at the gate on the night (CASH ONLY).
