Taste of Broome is an epic three-day cultural showcase festival that will delight your senses and entertain the entire family!
Festival goers will get a real taste of Broome’s best local food, culture, art, music, theatre and film across three main events in addition to a series of smaller and more intimate events created for an all-inclusive Broome experience. Events will evoke an era long gone, through the sights, sounds and smells of the past.
Celebrate Broome’s identity and meet the locals as they share their history and heritage with you during this unique festival that cannot be experienced anywhere else but right here in Broome.

Broome Film Showcase
This free and family friendly event featured a selection of short short films made in, for and about the Dampier Peninsula.

Music and Picture Show
The Music and Picture Show is an award-winning, multi-arts performance - not to be missed if you’re wanting to immerse yourself in the rich history of Broome through song, stories, pictures and people. A smoking ceremony and Welcome to Country was followed by “Nurlu”, traditional and contemporary Indigenous dance and the official Music and Picture Show featuring a wealth of musical talent from around the region.

Open Borders Puppet Workshop
The Open Borders workshop invited contemporary artists and performers to create shadow puppets reflecting their responses to the theme of "Open Borders". The workshop was part of a consultation process in preparation for a performance by Open Boarders at Curtin University Art Gallery in 2023.

Act Belong Commit Sandfly Circus
The Sandfly Circus is the Kimberley’s premier circus troupe, and their young performers entertained the crowd with a show directed by multi award-winning directors Georgia Deguara (Yuck Circus) and Will Tredinnick.

Kimberley Cooking Experience
Experience, taste and learn about Broome’s rich culinary history in this interactive, multi-sensory feast and be enlightened with unique cultural and heritage orientated cooking tips from some of Broome’s local food legends and well-known Kimberley chefs and cooks.
About CinefestOz Broome
Join us for the second CinefestOZ Broome, WA's First Nations Film Festival proudly presented with Goolarri Media! Unfolding from 26- 29 October 2023, enjoy a four-day immersive film experience in the gorgeous Kimberley.
Set in the centre of Broome, the festival comprises a mix of feature film screenings and special events spread across cinemas and venues. The festival celebrates the importance of on-screen storytelling in connecting communities and fostering reconciliation in the Kimberley and beyond, giving attendees the opportunity to experience in-conversation filmmaker discussions centered around championing First Nations stories.
CinefestOZ & Goolarri Media respectfully acknowledges the Yawuru people as the traditional custodians of this land we live and work on and pays respect to Elders past, present and future.
