Drive
From Perth
If you are visiting Broome access from Perth is via two major sealed roads - the North West Coastal Highway and the inland Great Northern Highway, meeting together outside Port Hedland and continues north along the Great Northern Highway towards Broome. You can also follow the Warlu Way from Exmouth to Broome.
Warlu Way
Beginning on the shores of the world’s largest fringing reef, Ningaloo, the Warlu Way leads you 2,480 kilometres from sapphire seas to the lush oases, soaring gorges, rugged ranges and ancient Aboriginal art of North West Australia’s Pilbara and Kimberley regions. Interpretive signage along the drive opens your eyes to the secrets of this country and its historical, cultural and natural wonders. Find more details here.
The Savannah Way
The Savannah Way is one of Australia's ultimate adventure drives, linking Cairns in Tropical North Queensland with Broome in the Kimberley, via the natural wonders of Katherine in the Northern Territory.
From Kununurra/Northern Territory
From Kununurra you can take the North West Coastal Highway or the unsealed Gibb River Road to head west to Broome.
Kununurra is the eastern gateway to Australia’s North West and is accessed via the Victoria Highway which links with the Stuart Highway in the Northern Territory. The unsealed Tanami and Duncan Roads link Alice Springs, in central Australia, with Halls Creek in the Kimberley.
By Coach
Greyhound Australia operates coach services that connect Darwin in the Northern Territory and the Kimberley. They offer hop-on hop-off packages, allowing you to design your own itinerary. Integrity Coachlines provides scheduled coach services to the Pilbara and through to Broome. Contact a Visitor Centre for a timetable and booking assistance.
