Country Race Rounds
Country Race Days are a fabulous day out and are a large part of any regional towns social calendar.
With racing venues across the Kimberley & Pilbara, races take place during the cooler months of May-August.
The North West race rounds also have a long pedigree - the earliest races were organised to entertain local residents in Wyndham in 1886, Marble Bar in 1893 and Port Hedland in 1902. While the district bred horses of the early days have given way to professional jockeys and registered racehorses, the races retain their local colour. The pindan and grass race tracks are often surrounded by some of Australia's most spectacular landscapes, and race days attract locals and visitors from all over the world.
From one-day picnic race events to the six and nine week racing seasons in Port Hedland and Broome, there's sure to be a race round to suit. Bring a picnic, place a bet or join in a game of two up, wear your best outfit for Fashions on the Field or keep it casual!
