Due to infrastructure damage caused by the flooding of Martuwarra Fitzroy River in January 2023, Danggu Geikie Gorge and the boat tours will not open for the tourist season in 2023.
Enjoy the panoramic views while Parks and Wildlife Service rangers take you on a guided journey through Geikie Gorge where you will learn about the stunning geology, wildlife and cultural significance of this ancient gorge.
Danggu Geikie Gorge has been carved by the Fitzroy River through part of an ancient limestone barrier reef which snakes across the west Kimberley. It was laid down in an ancient sea that covered a large part of the Kimberley in Devonian times, some 350 million years ago.
Danggu Geike Gorge boat tours take place from May to October and give an insight into the wildlife and geology of the gorge.
This one hour boat tour in the iconic Danggu Geikie Gorge, carved by the mighty Fitzroy River in the Kimberley region, gives a fascinating insight into the gorge’s wildlife and geology. You can see crocodiles, wallabies, and birds such as sea eagles, brolgas and rare purple-crowned fairy-wrens, against the backdrop of contrasting colours of the gorge walls.
