Shinju Matsuri - Festival Of The Pearl
21 August - 6 September 2026
Experience some of Broome’s unique culture with Shinju Matsuri, or the Festival of the Pearl, a true Broome institution!
For many years now the Australian South Sea Pearl has been the prize rather than the mother of pearl. September traditionally marks the end of the pearl harvest season, when the fortunes of the pearl farmer are told. What better time to celebrate?
Shinju Matsuri will tempt your senses with an exciting whirlwind of colour, sound, taste and smell as the community shares this beautiful locale with the world and the people who call it home.
If you're thinking about attending any of the ticketed Shinju events, including the Sunset Long Table Dinner, we highly recommend you purchase your tickets early as they will quickly sell-out!
