Knox Gorge and Lookout
Off Weano Rd, Karijini National Park, 6751
Knox Gorge is a dramatic chasm that meets Wittenoom Gorge, located just a short distance from the spectacular Joffre Gorge. A new lookout provides a stunning 360 degree vantage point. From here, look across to the far gorge wall, which curves spectacularly around a bend in the river, giving a striking sense of the landscape’s scale and geology. You can also see Knox Gorge itself plunging 100m below your feet. The lookout is especially beautiful in the early morning or late afternoon, when the angled sunlight highlights the colours and textures of the rock walls.
Walking Trail
From the lookout, a trail descends into the gorge, passing fig trees that cling to the rock walls. The 2-kilometre return walk involves scrambling over rocks, negotiating ledges, and wading or swimming through seasonal pools as you follow the gorge to where it narrows into a slot canyon.
